WML Projects:
WML Consulting Engineers delivers practical engineering solutions across Western Australia’s development and infrastructure sectors, including rail, road, ports, land development, water, mining, energy and industrial projects. We partner with clients to deliver efficient, resilient infrastructure that supports long-term performance and sustainable growth.

DUNSBOROUGH LAKES ESTATE
Dunsborough Lakes Estate is a large multi staged residential estate located in Dunsborough in the Southwest. Luke Rusconi has been the Lead Engineer on this project for 8 years. WML have designed and provided Superintendency services to deliver multiple stages of this development.

MRWA BRIDGE PROJECTS
WML has assisted AECOM with numerous Main Roads WA bridge projects over the duration of 2022. The bridges were spread over the southwest and great southern region of the Western Australia.

STEPHENSON AVENUE EXTENSION - TEMPORARY WORKS DESIGN
The project consists of an extension of Stephenson Avenue from Scarborough Beach Road, to Cedric Street, including a new Mitchell Freeway Interchange, replacing the freeway interchange at Cedric Street. It will also provide a Smart Freeway southbound on-ramp with coordinated signals. This includes three new bridges, including two over Mitchell Freeway.

SAND PITS ROAD, GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATION AND SSE
A 42 hectare land development project is currently underway on Sand Pits Road in West Dardanup that will produce 18 large residential lots.

TREENDALE ESTATE AND DISTRICT CENTRE
Treendale is a large multi staged residential, commercial and industrial estate located in Australind in the Southwest. The project has involved the release of approximately 1500 lots as well as a district level shopping centre, a commercial precinct and Industrial zone.

ARMADALE ROAD NORTH LAKE ROAD BRIDGE PROJECT
WML completed the pavement and surfacing design for this major Main Roads WA project in the Perth Metropolitan Region.

NIFTY MINE COPPER CONCENTRATE HEAP LEACHING FACILITY
WML’s role in this project was to undertake a Geotechnical Investigation for the relocation of the existing processing plant and 1,000,000m2 heap leach area. The investigation involved the drilling of 20 boreholes and excavation of 75 test pits across the site in mainly greenfield areas.

GREAT EASTERN HIGHWAY BYPASS AND INTERCHANGES
WML has completed the design for pavements and surfacings for this major MRWA project in the Perth Metro region.

LYNAS MT WELD EXPANSION PROJECT
Lynas Rare Earths is a producer of rare earth materials and is the world’s only significant producer of separated rare earth materials outside of China.

PILGANGOORA PLANT EXPANSION PROJECT
WML were involved in part 1 of a 2-part investigation for the expansion of the lithium processing plant at the Pilgangoora Pilgan project.

KCGM SUPERPIT FIMISTON PLANT EXPANSION PROJECT
During KCGM’s upgrades to their Fimiston processing plant facility, WML were engaged as part of a three phase geotechnical investigation and design advice during the planning and design phases of this project.

FORREST HIGHWAY SERVICE CENTRES
WML was engaged by Perkins to design the exit and entry ramps for the new service centre on Forrest Highway Lot 601 & 602 just to the south of Pinjarra.

SOUTH WESTERN HIGHWAY THOMPSON HILL SECTION REALIGNMENT
WML was engaged by MRWA-SWR to design the re-alignment of a section of the South Western Highway referred to as the Thompson Hill section. This section of road was identified as a road safety issue due to the reverse curves and overtaking lane combination in a high speed zone.

WHIM CREEK COPPER MINE (ENVIRONMENTAL POND REMEDIATION)
WML were engaged by ANAX metals to undertake a geotechnical investigation and provide Construction Quality Assurance for the remediation of an environmental pond for a copper heap leach project.

BUNBURY OUTER RING ROAD
The project includes the construction of 27 km of dual carriageway highway with a total of 7 major intersections, including a mixture of grade-separated interchanges and at-grade roundabouts/intersections.

LYNAS CRACKING AND LEACHING PLANT
The Lynas Mt Weld mine in Western Australia is acknowledged as one of the world’s premier rare earths deposits, and in 2023, Lynas also moved its operations to Western Australia. WML provided engineering services at the existing Mt Weld mine site as well as the newly constructed cracking and leaching plant in Kalgoorlie.

MITCHELL FREEWAY VINCENT STREET INTERSECTION RETAINING WALL DESIGN
WML was engaged by Main Roads Western Australia to undertake the geotechnical investigation and geotechnical design of a retaining wall at the Mitchell Freeway and Vincent Street intersection.

SOUTH WESTERN HIGHWAY COLLIE RIVER BRIDGE DUPLICATION
The re-alignment of the existing road in the Raymond Road intersection area required some intricate engineering details to incorporate existing underground drainage structures and allow constructability under traffic.

BANKSIA ROAD AND LEACHATE POND DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
Design of the new Cell 12 including bulk earthworks, composite liner (GCL/CHDPE), leachate drainage, stormwater drainage, cell access and access road.

NEW TAILINGS DISPOSAL CELL
Investigation of the existing Dalyellup site revealed the tailings to behave as a stiff, fissured over-consolidated clay within 12 months of deposition. The effect of solar drying and under-drainage were deemed significant in achieving a high early strength and increased solids content.
